Hello! Me again!
Previously, I have blogged about how much I love Illamasqua as a brand.
However, there is something I was not so pleased with when I visited one of their consessions this week.
I went with a friend, with the intention of buying the new 'Precision Ink' in the shade 'Alchemy', which is a preview item from their upcoming Art of Darkness collection, a foundation and a nail varnish.
However, I left empty handed - why, I hear you say?
Well, the assistant, although friendly, was very pushy and was trying to me sell an array of products, not related in any way to what I was buying, which made me feel really uncomfortable, as she adopted a 'hard selling' approach.
I realise that this is something that is adpoted by many cosmetic counter staff and that they do have often difficult targets to meet, however, in my opinion, being overly pushy defeats the object of achieving sales, as more often than not, the customer will feel uncomfortable and walk away.
I have visited the same counter previously and the ladies have been lovely, making suggestions although not hard selling.
I was really disappointed and my friend, who felt really pushed, ended up buying something she didnt actually want - I enjoy make up shopping lots but this kind of took the enjoyment away.
I would still buy from Illamasqua but would be reluctant to visit that counter again due to the bad experience I have recently had, which is a shame, as you can often get great tips and advice from the Illamasqua girls.
What are your thoughts on this?
